Before the leather…

I grew up in a small town in Northern Wisconsin before winding up at UW-Platteville for College. After graduating with a Soil and Crop Science degree, I moved to Western Dane County for my first job as an Agronomist. I stayed in that field for 8 years before joining my wife full time in our photography business. Prior to this point, I would have considered Photography as my main hobby. We had already been photographing weddings for years but it was very much a side business. Once it became my main profession, how I viewed and approached it changed. I still enjoyed photography obviously (still my job 10 years later) but it wasn’t an outlet or a side quest anymore.
How it started…
I asked a very talented acquaintance to make me a custom leather camera bag a few years back. Not only was he kind enough to make the bag, but he also walked me through the process, explaining what and why he did everything. Once the bag was complete and, in my possession, I was blown away by what he was able to create. That is what planted the seed that would eventually grow into Little Shed Leather.
For the next couple years, I’d occasionally jump down the online research rabbit hole… never quite ready to fully commit. After two years of this, I think my wife got sick of me bringing it up because she bought me a Leatherwork tool kit for my birthday.
